Lorient

This is a typical St Barths community, a group of red roofed houses stretching the length of the beach. Places to see here are the little cemetery where plastic flowers abound due to the lack of water supply, and the church with its lovely clock tower and its celebrations every Sunday. This is somewhat of a crossroads for the island, a gateway to the eastern end. It is a lively place, named by the original Breton settlers after a town back home in Brittany. To the east, the jagged coastline offer some wonderful viewpoints, from the Lorient headland to the Milou headland.
